I know right? You thought mites were something you could forget about once you left school and your mom stopped frantically combing your hair! So, what is this all about?
Eyelash mites are tiny microscopic organisms (we prefer organisms to bugs, because honestly there’s nothing to be afraid of!). All of us usually have a tiny quantity of them at the base of our lashes. Most of the time they won’t actually cause you any bother, but if you get a large quantity of them or if they irritate the skin then they can be a nuisance.
A weakened immune system is what most commonly leads to an increase in eyelash mites, so staying healthy is the best defense!
Find out more about the body’s natural lash system here.
1) Avoid sharing makeup as mites can be passed via brushes.
2) Dust can sometimes harbor mites so be sure to clean your lashes after you’ve been cleaning out the attic!
3) Always clean your lashes daily. Check out our dedicated blog for some great lash cleaning tips.
Isn’t it amazing how often just keeping your lashes clean is the secret to keeping them healthy and protected from a whole range of things?
