Are all false lashes paraben-free?

When you see something is “free from” that’s usually a good thing, right? After all, if someone has spent the time to tell you that their product definitely doesn’t contain a particular ingredient, that ingredient probably isn’t very good for you.

But what on earth are parabens and why are your lashes, and your eyes, better off without them?

Find out below!

What are parabens?

Parabens are a group of chemicals which were historically used in cosmetic products as preservatives, which basically means they’re there to stop bacteria and mould from growing.

Are they dangerous?

Let’s just say if parabens were human, you wouldn’t be inviting them to your parties. Different scientific studies have determined that parabens can:

  • Disrupt the body’s hormonal system
  • Harm fertility and the body’s reproductive organs
  • Affect birth outcomes
  • Increase the risk of cancer

Basically, they suck!

Are they necessary?

No! There are lots of other ways for companies to produce products which last, without having to reach for a dangerous paraben. So if you purchase a product which is marked as ‘paraben-free,’ that doesn’t mean it will expire any quicker.

Are they in lashes?

Parabens are less common in false lashes. Instead, they’re more likely to be found in the glue that’s used to fix false lashes and extensions in place. Lash glues can be produced using some fairly harmful chemicals, look out for any of the following:

methyl-, ethyl-, propyl-, isopropyl-, butyl- and isobutylparaben.

Does Silly George use parabens?

Absolutely not! Our false lashes and our revolutionary LinerBondTM are completely paraben-free. This means they’re 100% safe and won’t damage your eyes.

So if you want to keep your eyes and your lashes in the best of health, go paraben-free today!
