Guide: How To Trim Your False Lashes

If you find that your false lashes feel uncomfortable or they make your eyes water, that probably means they’re a little too long for you. To ensure you get a comfortable fit and a neat finish, you’ll often need to trim your lashes so that they fit perfectly along your natural lash line.

In this post we’ll break down the simple steps to trimming the perfect lash. Then, once you’ve mastered trimming, check out the next essential explainer: Should I wear false lashes with or without eyeliner?

Ready to get started?

Step One – Position Lashes

Carefully remove your false lash from its packaging using a pair of tweezers and balance it gently on top of your natural lashes (it doesn't matter which eye you start with). You want to position it so that you leave a small space between the inside corner of your eye and the inner end of the false lash - this is so that the lash doesn’t poke you!

Tip – you're not gluing the lash at this stage; you only want to balance it on top of your natural lashes.

Step Two – Measure

With the falsie in place, you should now see that a small section of the outer end of the falsie is hanging out and over the outside of your eye. Measure it with your finger. This is the amount that you need to cut off in order to end up with the perfect length.

Step Three – Trim

Take your lash scissors and cut slightly less than you need to from the outer end of the lash. Then balance the falsie against your natural lashes again, check the length and, if necessary, cut off a little more until there’s no more overhang (this will stop you from taking too much off in one go and ending up with a falsie you can’t use!).

How do you know when you’ve nailed it? The lash should be comfortable and blend perfectly with your natural lashes (without protruding) – it should feel like you aren’t even wearing them!

Tip – you always want to cut from the outer end of the lash. If you cut from the inner end, you can ruin the shape.

Step Four – Repeat

Repeat steps 1-3 for your other eye, then compare your false lashes to check that they’re the same length.

Step Five – Apply

Apply those lashes! With a quick sweep of our revolutionary LinerBond™ you’ll be ready to rock in seconds. Unlike lash glue it won’t leave behind any gunk or mess and it will hold your lashes in place all day long.
