Eyelash Tints: 5 Facts You Need To Know

Thinking of booking your lashes in for a tint? Check the facts first!

1) What is an eyelash tint?

Tinting your eyelashes is just like coloring your roots. When you go to the salon, they'll use a dye similar to hair dye to darken your natural lashes. It takes about 40 minutes.

2) How much does it cost?

Lash tints are fairly economical with prices hovering typically ranging around $25-35 USD depending on the option you go for.

3) How long does it last?

On average, you can expect your lash tint to last about a month. You’ll notice as the weeks go by that your lash line will get lighter; this isn’t because the dye is fading, it’s because your lashes naturally shed so, some of the darker tinted lashes are being replaced by new lighter lashes. If you want to get the most out of your tint, try to  avoid excessive sun exposure to the sun as it the sun has a bleaching effect on your lashes.

4) Is it safe?

It sure is, though it’s advisable to get your lashes tinted at a salon rather than trying to do it at home! At a salon you can be have confidentce that the dye being used was has been specially-formulated to be safe around the eye area, which means it won’t damage your eyes or your eyelids.

However, people who regularly tint their lashes can find that their lashes become slightly dry. If this happens, it’s worth investing in a Lash Growth Serum which will keep your lashes well-moisturised, preventing premature shedding, and boosting growth.

5) Is it worth it?

PRO: Lash tints are a quick, cheap way of instantly perking up your lash line. The darker color makes your lashes look thicker and fuller and it can save you the hassle of having to apply mascara. They tend to work best for people with naturally lighter lashes, as the difference will be more pronounced.

CON: Lash tints might give the illusion of more volume, but they won’t actually lengthen your lashes. They can also cause your lashes to become dry and brittle.

So, what do you do if you want the length without the risk? Try a falsie! Falsies are like a snazzier version of a tint, because when you apply a falsie, you’ll add length across the whole of your entire lash line whilst also gently darkening the overall color. That’s what we call the best of both worlds!
